Total Recall: Why Your RAG Chatbot Makes Things Up

Tutorial-grade RAG chatbots confidently invent facts, and a bigger model rarely fixes it: smarter retrieval does. No RAG 101 here. Instead, four upgrades with before-and-after metrics: structure-aware chunking, hybrid dense and BM25 search, two-stage retrieval with cross-encoder reranking, and evaluations like Recall@k that tell you whether any of it worked.

Honey, I Shrunk the Bits: How Modern HTTP Compression Works

From lossless compression basics to Gzip, Brotli and Zstandard: how each algorithm works, how they compare on real payloads, and how to configure them in a modern web stack. For JavaScript, performance and DevOps engineers, with config templates and a benchmark suite to take home.

Bundlers: A Deep Dive Into Modern JavaScript Build Tools

What actually happens when you run a build? A tour of bundler internals: ASTs, dependency graphs, tree-shaking, code splitting and hot module replacement, and how Vite, webpack and Rollup each approach them. No live coding; a companion GitHub repository lets attendees dig in afterwards.

Open Source: From Revolution to Evolution

From the free software versus open source split to the cloud-era licensing wars: how open source won, what it cost, and what the next decade might look like. A keynote that ends on an uncomfortable question: what comes after open source?

Server Components Wars: PHP Strikes Back

A Star Wars-flavoured face-off between React Server Components and classic server-side PHP: rendering, data fetching, hydration, SSR and bundling. Which side really owns the server, and what can each learn from the other?

True Wizards: The Story of John von Neumann and Alan Turing

Two lives that shaped modern computing, and the ideas they left us: the stored-program architecture, codebreaking and the first questions about machine intelligence. A storytelling keynote for any developer audience.
